A Beetroot, Strawberry & Banana Smoothie Recipe. A delicious mix of fruit and vegetables all blended together smoothly in a Vitamix.
Another smoothie from me today. I love having a smoothie of a morning as I’m not a huge fan of a hot breakfast. I like something icy and refreshing! But having too much fruit is as bad as having “proper sugar” if not worse, so I do like to mix things up and hide veggies in there to to balance things out.
This smoothie will feed two people, or 4 if you only want a small one of are feeding little ones too!
- 1 x Banana (see note at the bottom to why mine is sooo brown)*
- 1 x Handful of mixed Berries
- 1/2 cup of Oat milk, fill the rest of the cup with water
- 1 small beet !! Or half if yours is big!
Yep! A beetroot!! I know, when I first thought of hiding veggies in a smoothie it sounded disgusting, but honestly you can’t taste it at all! Beetroots are really high in nutrients, they are amazing at lowering blood pressure and supporting brain health!!
So go ahead and pop it all in the blender, quick tip, when you’re loading up your blender. Put all your softer ingredients in first as it will help blend everything better! Then serve your Beetroot, Strawberry & Banana Smoothie.

With my bananas I leave them to go as brown as possible. Firstly the longer you leave it, the higher in antioxidants. Secondly, they are easier for your body to digest like this. Thirdly they are sweeter, which makes for a creamier smoothie, you won’t get that chalky taste!
On a side note, if you head over to www.spoonuniversity.com they have a whole article about how brown bananas can aid in preventing cancer! Check it out!
